Changing with the Times - Coding coming to Science Academy
With changes in the nature of work, dynamics of the workforce and the overall landscape of what careers might look like we felt we needed to make some adjustments to the current model of Science Academy. After talking to former students and witnessing the changes to the expectations at University we felt that students needed to be exposed to basic coding and design. Starting next year Industrial Coding and Design 12 will be part of the package of courses taken by Science Academy students. This course will be offered over the two years of Science Academy as the final evaluation will be their Capstone project at the end of Grade 12.
We have expanded our staff as Mrs. S. Desrochers will now be part of the Science Academy teachers as she brings a wealth of knowledge in coding, design, robotics and industrial education. Also in order for us to have the time to do this AP Physics I and II will no longer be part of the program as we felt that most students did not use these credits at university.
